VICTORIA SHUMAKOVICH
Workshop Leader
This semester I got the honor to lead a Comedy workshop with my best friend Kyle. It was very fun and very rewarding seeing all the improvements and amazing skits the students created!
KYLE WASSERMAN
Workshop Leader
It has been such a gift to be able to lead this workshop with Victoria this semester. We had a wonderful group of students who made it so easy for us to plan engaging workshops. I am so proud of how far they have come.
AMY YUE
TA
Amy Yim is a junior Math major TA for Arts Scholars and had a semester full of laughs as she assisted the Comedy workshop. The versatility and growth of every student in the workshop along with the workshop leaders, Kyle and Victoria, reflected the significance of the arts that Arts Scholars instills.

“Sleepover Scandal” is a skit about 3 friends, one of which hasn’t shown her true colors yet. Hannah is a bit odd to say the leas, and Ashley and Madison learn that over the course of their
slumber party! Me, Martha and Alyssa came up with our idea very quickly, because we are 3 girl friends and thought immediately about funny situations we have been in. We realized we have
all been to sleepover and experienced strange people. When you are already friends, it is very
easy to get immediately into bouncing thoughts back and forth, so the script developed very
fast. Everyone’s ideas got incorporated (because we are all hilarious) and then it was just a
matter of blocking and bringing in props. We are very happy with our final product, and it makes
us laugh, which is what matters most!

"My favorite part of the workshop was getting to take part in improv games for warm up!”

“I do not have a lot of past experienced in comedy or sketches in general. I was reluctant to sign up for this workshop but I'm glad I did. Participating in this workshop really got me out of my comfort zone and taught me how to go with the flow more and have more confidence in myself. “

Our skit, “Dumb Money”, is about a criminal who doesn’t understand what money laundering actually is. He finds himself in a laundromat, asking others how to launder money, while they just explain how to do regular laundry to him.
We actually went through quite a few different ideas before landing on this one. We
thought the characters fit our group the best, and others liked the idea as well. We hope
everyone enjoys the skit!

Delivery Disaster came to me in a dream and we distributed ideas to come up with what you will see at Arts Fest. This wouldn’t have been possible without the crew we had (Elijah and Makenna) including all of the comedy workshop and their incredible constructive feedback. Not to mention our teachers who set up the class to allow us to execute when it really counted. Thank you to everyone. - Simon G
